About the role


Do you enjoy shaping the future of product sustainability through LCA, PCF, digitalisation and innovative data solutions? If yes, you are exactly right for the role of Life Cycle Assesssment Manager (m/f/d) in our company.


You will provide methodological expertise and business support across MCG EMEA while driving the digitalisation, automation and scalability of LCA processes and supporting the business in meeting evolving customer expectations and EU sustainability requirements such ESPR and the Digital Product Passport (DPP).


What you will do


  • LCA & PCF Expertise: Act as the subject-matter expert for LCA, PCF and product sustainability assessments across MCG EMEA, ensuring robust methodologies, high-quality data, compliant modelling and credible results in line with ISO standards, industry methodologies and internal requirements
  • Digitalization, Automation & AI: Lead the functional development and scaling of digital and automated LCA/PCF processes, including standardised and parameterised models, data integration and system interfaces; leverage AI for suitable use cases while ensuring expert validation, methodological integrity, data governance and compliance
  • EU Regulation & Digital Product Passport: Provide LCA and environmental-data expertise for ESPR, Digital Product Passport and related product sustainability requirements; translate regulatory and customer requirements into practical data, calculation, documentation and quality standards and support credible environmental claims
  • Business Support & Cross-functional Collaboration: Act as a trusted advisor to MCG businesses on LCA, PCF and product sustainability, supporting customer requirements and working closely with Business Units, Procurement, R&D, Digital/IT, Product Stewardship, Regulatory Affairs, EHS, Marketing, suppliers and manufacturing sites
  • Governance, Capability Building & External Engagement: Drive methodological consistency, data quality and continuous improvement across MCG and the Global LCA Competence Center; monitor emerging methodologies and market standards, develop guidance and training, and represent MCG in relevant industry forums, conferences and expert networks

What you bring


  • Education & LCA/PCF expertise: Master's degree or PhD in Chemical/Environmental/Process Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Ecology, Environmental Science, Sustainability-focused Data Science or a comparable field, combined with several years of practical LCA and/or PCF experience, ideally in the chemical, materials or manufacturing industry; strong knowledge of ISO 14040/14044, ISO 14067 and related methodologies
  • Industrial processes, modelling & data: Solid understanding of chemical and industrial production processes, mass and energy balances, life cycle inventories and environmental data; hands-on experience with professional LCA software such as openLCA or Sphera LCA for Experts and databases such as Ecoinvent, as well as managing, validating and documenting complex environmental datasets
  • Digitalization, automation & AI: Proven ability to digitalize and automate data-intensive LCA/PCF processes and translate methodological and technical requirements into digital solutions, practical knowledge of technologies such as Python, Power Query, SQL, APIs and Microsoft Power Platform, as well as experience applying and validating AI-enabled tools in LCA, sustainability or environmental-data contexts
  • Environmental data, regulation & integration: Experience integrating SAP/ERP, supplier, bill-of-material and manufacturing data into LCA/PCF processes, including supplier PCF, Scope 3.1 and automated LCI data collection; knowledge of ESPR, Digital Product Passport (DPP), PEF, EPD/PCR, TfS PCF Guidance, GHG Protocol Product Standard or comparable frameworks
  • Business & international capabilities: Strong analytical, project-management and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to operate effectively in an international matrix organisation; business-fluent English, with German and/or French as an advantage. Experience in an international organisation with Japanese roots is desirable
