Who You'll Work With
Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture - doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities you need to become a stronger leader faster than you ever thought possible. Your colleagues—at all levels—will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients. Every day, you'll receive apprenticeship, coaching, and exposure that will accelerate your growth in ways you won’t find anywhere else.
When you join us, you will have:
You will research and synthesize actionable insights in response to complex research questions posed by our consulting teams and clients, leveraging a solid understanding of business and technology trends, issues and concepts in the power and gas industry.
You will collect and analyze data and information found in databases and/or other primary and secondary research tools. You will assemble the relevant fact base, counsel consultants and clients on the scope of business operations, technology, and strategic and economic trends within the electricity and broader energy transition space and provide insights and analysis for solving our clients' problems.
Some of your day-to-day tasks will include identifying the key issues for the problem at hand and determining the most appropriate solution, while effectively balancing quality, availability, timeliness, and cost factors. You’ll perform a variety of analyses such as benchmarking, trend identification, industry profiling, market sizing, growth projections, opportunity scanning, etc., to add value to problem-solving discussions. You’ll also provide synthesis, insight and client implications within tight deadlines via end products in the form of PowerPoint charts, written memos, models and frameworks.
Your work will afford you the opportunity to work alongside senior knowledge professionals on larger client facing projects and internal knowledge initiatives. In time, you will also participate in, and eventually lead, internal knowledge development and capability-building initiatives and use advanced analytics tools to prepare and analyze large datasets to distill insights. As you develop professionally in the role, you will have the opportunity to serve clients directly, further develop and own proprietary tools and knowledge for McKinsey, and mentor more junior colleagues.
You will join our Dusseldorf office as part of our global Electric Power & Natural Gas Capabilities & Insights (Research) team.
The EPNG team includes ~30 professionals who work alongside our consultants and clients to generate distinctive insights and proprietary knowledge. You will also be part of our global Client Capabilities Network where colleagues are driven by a culture of innovation and deliver distinctive client impact through assets and expertise.
Within our EPNG Capabilities & Insights network, you'll be working on strategic, analytical and operational topics with a focus on many elements surrounding energy transition including renewables, strategy/corporate finance, transmission & distribution (T&D) or retail markets. You are joining a firm whose culture is distinctive and inclusive. You will engage with a group of McKinsey partners and consultants that are actively working to solve strategic topics in the electricity and gas markets.
