Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior Controller to help build and professionalize Cumulocity’s controlling, reporting and performance management capabilities. This role is a key position in a small, globally distributed Finance team and offers the opportunity to shape scalable planning, reporting and business partnering processes in an international technology scale-up.


You will own core controlling deliverables such as monthly management reporting, budget and forecast processes, variance analysis, KPI reporting, cost controlling and investor-facing finance analyses. You will work closely with the CFO, Accounting & Tax, business leaders and external service providers to improve transparency, decision support and financial discipline across the organization.

We are a widely remote-working global company with major representations in Germany, India, Bulgaria, the UK and the US. This role can be based remotely in Germany, with hybrid collaboration where useful.


Responsibilities

  • Drive the monthly management reporting process, including preparation of P&L, cash flow, KPI and variance analyses for the CFO, management team and investors.


  • Own and continuously improve the budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning processes, including timelines, templates, assumptions, quality reviews and stakeholder alignment.


  • Act as a finance business partner to functional leaders, providing clear analysis, decision support and challenge on cost development, headcount, investments and operational performance.


  • Develop and maintain scalable controlling models for revenue, ARR, bookings, churn, gross margin, personnel costs, OPEX, CAPEX, cash flow and other relevant SaaS / IoT business metrics.


  • Prepare and interpret monthly performance dashboards and KPI packs, ensuring consistent definitions, data quality and reconciliation to accounting and source systems.


  • Support the month-end close by reviewing accruals, cost allocations, intercompany effects and management reporting adjustments in close collaboration with Accounting & Tax.


  • Establish and document group-wide controlling standards, cost center structures, reporting calendars, KPI definitions and planning guidelines.


  • Improve the quality, efficiency and automation of reporting and planning processes, including the further development of finance systems, BI tools and data interfaces.


  • Support investor reporting, board materials, shareholder requests, ad hoc analyses and due diligence workstreams with robust financial insights and clear storytelling.


  • Monitor actuals against budget and forecast, identify risks and opportunities early, and recommend corrective actions together with the business owners.


  • Contribute to finance transformation projects, including ERP / planning tool implementation, reporting process redesign and the transition towards stronger internal finance ownership.


  • Ensure a strong control mindset in controlling processes, with transparent documentation, data traceability and alignment between management reporting and statutory accounting.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Business Informatics or a related field.


  • 5+ years of relevant experience in controlling, FP&A, finance business partnering, audit, transaction services or a comparable finance role, ideally in a multinational technology, SaaS, scale-up, PE  environment.


  • Strong understanding of financial statements, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and KPI steering, consolidation.


  • Experience with SaaS, subscription, usage-based or software business models is a strong plus, including metrics such as ARR, NRR, churn, bookings, gross margin and CAC / payback logic.


  • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear business insights and recommendations for senior management and non-finance stakeholders.


  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills and strong affinity for finance systems, BI tools and data automation; experience with Lucanet.


  • Structured, analytical and hands-on working style with strong ownership, attention to detail and the ability to drive topics independently in a dynamic environment.


  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across cultures, seniority levels and remote teams.


  • Process-oriented mindset with a focus on standardization, documentation, scalability, internal controls and continuous improvement.


  • Excellent English skills in speaking and writing. German skills are a plus.
